Brazil, in a long way, the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest state in Latin America. Brazil is the fifth largest country on the planet, behind Russia, Canada, the United States and China. Militarily, the Brazilian army is ranked among the twenty largest military powers and remains the largest on the American continent, behind that of the United States. Despite the size of its economy, Brazil remains one of the countries where social and economic inequalities are among the highest in the world. In 2017, Brazil is the third Latin American country in social inequality, after Honduras and Colombia. Along with China, India and Russia, Brazil is considered one of the few countries with the potential to one day become a global superpower.
